SUSTAINABILITY

The Gallo family adopts seines and advanced technologies for sustainable and responsible fishing, founding the Tyrrhenian Tuna Producers Association in 1977.

Through purse seine fishing, the company ensures sustainable fishing, limiting bycatch and preserving the integrity of the seabed. In 1977, the Gallo family contributed significantly to the founding of APTT (Associazione Produttori Tonnieri del Tirreno soc. coop.), the first producer organization to obtain authorization for sustainable fishing of small and large pelagic fish in the Mediterranean.

The fish is caught in compliance with fishing quotas and regulations established by the European Community with the authorization of the intergovernmental organization ICCAT responsible for the conservation of tuna in the Atlantic Ocean.

Furthermore, always with a focus on sustainability and the environment, the Gallo family adopts: - Innovative technologies, such as sonar and sophisticated instrumentation, for a balanced supply of marine life. - Separate waste collection both on board and at the processing plant. - Use of eco-friendly and reusable packaging. - Traceability and transparency of the production cycle. - Transparency towards consumers by indicating the sustainable fishing method, fish species, and FAO zone on the packaging. - Use of renewable energy sources. - Respect and support for the development and well-being of local communities.

Respect for the sea and the environment are the values on which the Gallo family and its company have always been based.
